Ceramic Antique Shoes
I have always been interested in fashion history. This collection features shoes inspired by two historical periods. Baroque fashions were in vogue at the Versailles court where Marie Antoinette and her ladies-in-waiting used intricate high-heel shoes and mules. The Victorian era had more practical shoes for women but still very feminine.
Each stoneware piece was hand-built and hand-painted. I used a variety of underglazes to color some of the shoes and finished them with clear glaze for a shiny look. Some are done in a white glaze that breaks to show intricate details such as stitching and buttons. I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I enjoyed making it.
